His View of Jacksonville, Florida.

By Glenn Arnette, lll

It is amazing how one can discover real talent when traveling around the world. As a journalist it is extremely nice to see the work of great photographers especially when they express themselves through the lens of a camera.

As Jack Thompson is the best of Myrtle Beach and renowned throughout the Southeast, Patrick Morris is the best of Jacksonville, Florida. As stated in recent articles, there is something about Jacksonville that has me wondering why so many people just pass through on the way to the rest of Florida. What a shame! There is so much to this wonderful city and hopefully you will see that in the pictures presented to me by

Patrick Morris.

Patrick starting shooting and photography about 8 years ago and has a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of North Florida and consecrates his talent on landscapes. As he says, “If I can open someone’s eyes to a place and make them want to go there, then I consider my photo a success.”

As for the Jacksonville imagery, I am going to let Patrick speak for himself. “Growing up here, I always heard people talk about how much they dislike this city and couldn’t wait to escape. I hear people tell me it’s not a “real” city. Personally, I’ve always liked living here. People constantly look at my downtown photography and tell me, “Wow, I didn’t know Jacksonville could look so good!” Well, that because they are looking at it in the wrong way. It is all in the interpretation of it, and photography allows me to idealize the city. I could just as easily shoot it on an overcast, gloomy day and make it look like 19 century London or Gotham City.”

You are so right, Patrick! Your city of Jacksonville, Florida is one of the most beautiful in the state of Florida. How one would just drive by while overlooking the bridges, tall buildings, and the water on US I-95 is beyond my imagination. Remember it is the largest city in land in the United States. From the beaches to the quaint little villages, Jacksonville is a winner in my book!

Now enjoy the landscapes of one of America’s most beautiful places to visit. Get off the highway and take the tour. It will be worth you visit.
